Though the Youth Centre still misses Amanda, we continue on with the legacy that she has left of providing the youth of Rainbow Lake a safe, comfortable, accepting and open environment to enjoy. This coming year will include the same wonderful programs and outside workshops that you have come to expect as well as taking the lead from the youth and incorporating more programming that answers their needs and desires.

The January Survey for both parents and youth will help the Centre to evaluate these aspects of programming so please fill out one when you get a chance. We hope to continue to provide the welcoming atmosphere that allows youth to challenge and express themselves, as well as build the respect and skills that they will need when they leave our town and move on with their lives. There are a few new faces working at the Youth Centre. We always encourage parent involvement, so please come down and introduce yourself, talk about volunteer opportunities, or express ideas you have for improving the existing programming.

This year we have invited the "Biggest Loser" program into our center. It is targeted mostly towards adults, most of them are parents. So it is nice to have them coming in on a regular basis, to see what where their kids are going and the kinds of things going on in their life besides school.

Hello! I'm Emily Driedger, last summer I was given the position as Program Coordinator of the Rainbow Lake Youth Centre. It definitely will be a challenge for me, but with the help of my staff I've managed to get good grip of reality here at the youth center and the school. I'm from Grimshaw, Alberta, I moved to Rainbow Lake the summer of 06' after I graduated. For my first 2 winters here, I worked at the arena which gave me lots of experience with children, teens, and especially parents. I am looking forward to the upcoming year with some more programs and events. I hope to stick around for awhile, meeting new teens and more parents. Never fret to drop in and say hi! -Emily

Hi my name is Scott Grace I recently moved back to Rainbow lake from Brandon, Manitoba. When I lived here before I worked at the youth center for quite some time so I am already acquainted with a lot of the youth around town. I look forward to meeting new parents and youth that have just moved to Rainbow Lake. -Scott

Hi my name is Josh Norberg, I have lived in Rainbow Lake for 11 years now. I have worked at the Youth Center for 2 years and I'm already familiar with a lot of the Youth that come in here. I've really enjoyed working with the Youth for the past 2 years and I'm looking forward to the new year for other kids to come. -Josh

Have a great New Year!
